As this is the first Blog on Fincas Sofia, I thought I would start by listing some of the things I like most about living in this part of Spain. Number one is the weather, today is Sunday the 6th October 2019 and the temperature in Alozaina is 36 degrees 🌞 – blue skies, sunshine, just lovely. The second is that there are just so many options of what to do here; maybe, a quick trip to Coin boot sale followed by a day at the beach or hike in the mountain or trip to El Chorro lakes, a quiet walk in the mountains contemplating life in general…….and of course an hour or two just lying in the sun, relaxing, plus lunch at a local Venta. The scenery here is spectacular, and just driving through the mountain roads stopping off here and there to take a photo or have a nice cold glass of something refreshing is enjoyable in itself.

Thirdly and very importantly are the people who live in the villages, both Spanish and expats. There is a real sense of community here if you want to join in. The local Spanish people are so welcoming and helpful and in Alozaina we have a really wide range of nationalities amongst the expats: German, French, American, Irish, English, Dutch, Belgium and probably many more, so there is always someone to have a coffee or a chat with if you wish to – the prices are also excellent for refreshments, snacks and meals. This time of year is the time for olive picking so most of the locals are busy all day on their fincas and then the bars and restaurants start to fill up at about 9 pm and the whole village comes alive.

Well, I hope this gives you a small flavour of what I love most about living here and I am sure you will have your own ideas about what would make life most enjoyable for you in this beautiful part of Spain.

 Hasta luego,  Maddi x
